Hi guys this has been a long overdue update so I do apologise! I’ve been fiddling away at the map when I can and I did hit a little mappers block during this but thankfully that has passed. I have these screenshots for viewing but TBH the map is taking ALOT longer than I would like but hey that’s just the way things go 🙂
As more and more screenshots appear it might become more apparent what this level is all about. I was going to make the rollers into Movers but I had abit of trouble with scaling that I didn’t get around to resolving. You have to rescue a Hotel Guard “Jerry” from the cages. A little more work and that’s this room completed. It’s abit too ‘clean’ for my liking…
Nearly finished just got to work on finishing the label/ black plastic and animation. Should be finished by tomorrow 🙂 then if off for coding!
The Blowtorch is well on way to near completion. In the shot you can see its only been started with hope to finish it by tomorrow. With permission from Jonas I will be using the TNM hands with this model with animation also to start to tomorrow and then to get it I game, with this model being the first of a series of weapons to go in.
On other fronts mapping has been coming along nicely with me spending most of last night and today on it, I can say its around 50% complete (the side mission map).
In the screenshot is the first in a series of weapons which can be found in the map I’m working on currently. A Blowtorch and a Powerdrill, I have finished unwrapping the Blowtorch and will proceed to skin and animate over the weekend with the Powerdrill following shortly after.
As promised here’s a glimpse of the map I’m currently working on, I don’t want to release any more info until I get some more things done. It’s doesn’t do the map justice but things are turning out nicely so far. More to follow.
Over the past two weeks since the last update RoD has came on in leaps and bounds and is starting to take shape into something playable. So lets see what has went on…
In the photo attached isn’t the most recent of shots buts its what I had closest to hand. It’s been slow progress on the skinning front while I’ve been working with UnrealEd and ConEdit, but its starting to take shape and whilst I’m on holidays for the next two weeks I have a lot of free time on my hands. I plan to have the RiotDrone skinned before the end of the month.
Now onto the exciting part! I have been mapping quite a lot and I’ve added a small side mission onto the Hilton Hotel. There will be shots added very shortly but as for the storyline I will be keep that much very under wraps.
I’m very excited about this side mission and have been putting an AWFUL lot of thought into this and the end result has been very rewarding. An atmosphere never seen/felt before in Deus ex and even I have been getting goosebumps from playing my own map. It is suspenseful and depends largely on stealth to escape from this side mission, I plan to largely play on the players emotions. With new sound effects and models adding to the gameplay I’m sure it will benchmark this mod into a very enjoyable and different add on. Whilst the small glimpse of future screenshots later in the week don’t do it justice it is a small reminder that things are headed in the right direction. More to follow….
